Restoration of Videos Degraded by Local Isoplanatism Effects in the Near-Infrared Domain

When observing a scene horizontally at a long distance in the near-infrared domain, degradations due to atmospheric turbulence often occur. In our previous work, we presented two hybrid methods to restore videos degraded by such local perturbations. These restoration algorithms take advantages of a space-time Wiener filter and a space-time regularization by the Laplacian operator. Wiener and Laplacian regularization results are mixed differently depending on the distance between the current pixel and the nearest edge point. Optical calibration of a multispectral imaging system based on interference filters

We present a new approach to optically calibrate a multispectral imaging system based on interference filters. Such a system typically suffers from some blurring of its channel images. Because the effectiveness of spectrum reconstruction depends heavily on the quality of the acquired channel images, and because this blurring negatively affects them, a method for deblurring and denoising them is required. The blur is modeled as a uniform intensity distribution within a circular disk. It allows us to characterize, quantitatively, the degradation for each channel image. Non Linear Image Restoration in Spatial Domain

International audience; In the present work, a novel image restoration method from noisy data samples is presented. The restoration was per-formed by using some heuristic approach utilizing data samples and smoothness criteria in spatial domain. Unlike most existing techniques, this approach does not require prior modelling of either the image or noise statistics. The proposed method works in an interactive mode to find the best compromise between the data (mean square error) and the smoothing criteria. Atmospheric Turbulence Effects Removal on Infrared Sequences Degraded by Local Isoplanatism

When observing an object horizontally at a long distance, degradations due to atmospheric turbulence often occur. Different methods have already been tested to get rid of this kind of degradation, especially on infrared sequences. It has been shown that the Wiener filter applied locally on each frame of a sequence allows to obtain good results in terms of edges, while the regularization by the Laplacian operator applied in the same way provides good results in terms of noise removal in uniform areas. In this article, we present hybrid methods which take advantages of both Wiener filter and Laplacian regularization.

Abstract We propose a signal deconvolution procedure for imaging spectrometer data, where a measured point spread function (PSF) is deconvolved itself before being used for deconvolution of the signal. We evaluate the effectiveness of our procedure for improvement of the spatio-spectral signal, as well as our target application, i.e. estimation of sun-induced fluorescence (SIF). Imaging spectrometers are well established instruments for remote sensing. When used for scientific purposes these instruments are usually calibrated on a regular basis.
